WSPA supporters prompt action on reindeer cruelty

In December 2010, WSPA released a video that exposed the suffering inflicted on hundreds of reindeer as they are rounded up, transported and slaughtered for their meat in Sweden and Finland. Shortly after, more than 65,000 WSPA supporters from around the world signed a petition calling for an immediate and permanent end to this cruelty.
WSPA supporters help earn victory for sharks

WSPA asked supporters to sign a petition requesting the U.S. Senate’s support for bill S. 850, the Shark Conservation Act of 2009. And, they listened – the bill passed the Senate by unanimous consent and was signed into law by President Obama.

A WSPA investigation has revealed that one of the holiday’s most popular symbols – the reindeer – is being subjected to immense suffering in large-scale round-ups and slaughter in Sweden and Finland.

Every year, more than 55,000 people around the world die from rabies. In response, nearly 20 million dogs are needlessly and cruelly killed in misguided attempts to control the disease.
