In December 2010, WSPA released a video that exposed the suffering inflicted on hundreds of reindeer as they are rounded up, transported and slaughtered for their meat in Sweden and Finland. Shortly after, more than 65,000 WSPA supporters from around the world signed a petition calling for an immediate and permanent end to this cruelty.

WSPA asked supporters to sign a petition requesting the U.S. Senate’s support for bill S. 850, the Shark Conservation Act of 2009. And, they listened – the bill passed the Senate by unanimous consent and was signed into law by President Obama.
